Ok, it is time to get serious, Match Play is how golf started out. Players use their individual handicaps against their competitor’s handicap. If you are a 10-handicap playing a 3-handicap player the higher handicap player will get strokes against the lower handicap player. The difference between a 10 and 3 handicap is 7 so the higher handicap player will get one stroke on the #1 through #7 handicap holes. On each hole you either win, lose or tie. More detailed notes on Match Play will be published on the website and on the bulleting board in the Snack Shop.
The pairings for the tournament will be assigned as soon as we reach a full field of 16 players. If we fail to get 16 players, the lowest handicap players will get a bye in the first round. The last time I checked we had 10 players signed up. The entry fee is $30 per player. You may pay Peter Anderson, Don Bryan or Doug Speakman. You can also leave an envelope in the pro shop for the MGA. The tournament starts on June 16th. The first round of matches must be played in 10days, by June 26. Starting with 16 players after the first round there will be 8 players left. The second-round matches need to be played by July 6th. Beginning the third round there will be 4 players remaining. These matches need to be finished by July 16th. The fourth round will be the championship between the final remaining 2 players!
Players cell numbers are listed with each player so opponents can call and arrange their match within the 10-day period allowed for each round. Players will use their handicap on GHIN for the course being played (East or West) at the time of the match If you need help with this you can contact Peter, Don, Doug or Bill Shelton, board members listed on the Bulletin board in the Snack shop or on the website.
